FM 2499 Project - Section 4 Notice of 2nd Public Hearing FM 2499 Section 4 Denton County, Texas The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in cooperation with Denton County will conduct a second Public Hearing on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. to discuss the proposed construction of Farm to Market Road (FM) 2499 from FM 407 to FM 2181 on new location in Denton County. The Public Hearing will be held at University of North Texas Coliseum, 600 North Texas Boulevard, Denton, TX 76203. An Open House will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the Public Hearing at the same location to allow for questions and review of project exhibits. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is a cooperating agency for this project. TxDOT, Denton County, and USACE staff will be present to answer questions regarding the proposed project at the Open House. The proposed project is approximately 4.7 miles in length and is planned to be a non-controlled-access four-lane divided facility with intersections at existing crossings. The proposed right-of-way width is 140 feet. The typical road cross section is curb and gutter with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction and a 44-foot median. The design speed is 45 miles per hour. The project travels through or abuts the City of Highland Village, the Town of Copper Canyon, unincorporated Denton County land, the Town of Corinth, and USACE land and water associated with the Poindexter and Hickory Creek Branches of Lewisville Lake. Poindexter Branch and Hickory Creek Branch will be spanned by two adjacent bridges (one in each direction) at both locations. The typical bridge cross section is 48-foot in width providing two 12-foot travel lanes and a sidewalk. The project will require the acquisition of approximately 79.8 acres of right-of-way. The project does not require the relocation of residences and businesses but does require the acquisition of approximately 21 acres of USACE low-density recreation land and wildlife management land at Lewisville Lake. The proposed acquisition is discussed in the Environmental Assessment & Section 4(f) Evaluation prepared for the project. The project will cross floodplains, wetlands, and equestrian trails in and around Poindexter Branch and Hickory Creek Branch. Maps and other drawings showing the project’s location and geometric design will be displayed at the Public Hearing. The Environmental Assessment & Section 4(f) Evaluation will be available for inspection at the Public Hearing. This and other information about the project are on file and available for inspection and copying at the TxDOT- Denton County Area Office, 2624 West Prairie, Denton, Texas 76201; phone - (940) 387-1414.
